Foreign minister S Jaishankar to visit the Netherlands from Saturday

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will visit Nerlands from vember 9 to 11, during which he will hold comprehensive discussion on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest, according to an official statement.

He will also interact with members of foreign affairs committee of House of Representatives of Dutch Parliament and Dutch dignitaries across political spectrum, it said.

Jaishankar will meet Dutch foreign minister Stef Blok for comprehensive discussions on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest, statement issued by Indian embassy at Hague said. 

India and Nerlands have a long history of friendly bilateral relations going back to more than 400 years, encompassing many areas of shared interest. 

Nerlands is one of first three countries that established diplomatic relations with independent India in 1947. Both countries have strong ecomic interests in each or, it said.

two countries have witnessed a series of high-level exchanges in recent years, statement said. ir Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima concluded a highly successful State Visit to India from October 14-18. 

Prime Minister Mark Rutte of Nerlands visited India in May 2018 along with a high-level delegation comprising four Cabinet Ministers and Mayor of Hague. 

He was also accompanied by a tre mission comprising 130 companies/ institutions and nearly 200 tre representatives.

Modi and Rutte also met on December 1, 2018 on sidelines of G20 in Bues Aires and held discussions on boosting ecomic and cultural ties between India and Nerlands.

India and Nerlands share values of democracy, rule of law and justice. Both sides have been supportive of each or on multilateral fora. 

"Ecomic and Commercial relations provide a strong underpinning of bilateral cooperation. During recently concluded State Visit, largest ever tre delegation comprising of 250 members from 140 companies and organizations accompanied Dutch Royals to India," it said.

Nerlands was third largest investor in India in FY 2018-2019 with investment worth USD 3.87 billion. 

cumulative investments from Nerlands to India in period from April 2000  June 2019 amounts to USD 28.7 billion. 

Nerlands is also a major investment destination for Indian companies with a total investment by Indian companies estimated over USD 12 billion as on March 2018.
