Former YSRCP MLA Jaradoddi Sudhakar Arrested in POCSO Case

Based on the girl's complaint, a case was registered under the new BNS act and POCSO act.

Visakhapatnam: YSRCP leader and former Kodumur MLA Jaradoddi Sudhakar was arrested by the police on Thursday night after a minor girl alleged that she was sexually assaulted and harassed several times by him.  

Jaradoddi Sudhakar was booked for rape under POCSO Act in Kurnool city.

According to police, on Thursday a minor girl filed a complaint alleging that Sudhakar sexually assaulted and harassed several times over the years.

It is learnt that from 2019 to 2023, the minor girl, along with her parents, was working as a house help at Sudhakar’s residence. However, in November 2023, they were removed from work following which they went back to their village. Due to fear, the family could not come forward to file a complaint but finally on Thursday the minor girl filed a complaint against Sudhakar.

Based on the girl's complaint, a case was registered under the new BNS act and POCSO act. Subsequently, Sudhakar was arrested by the police and sent to a 14-day judicial custody.

Earlier in May 2024, a video alleging sexual harassment went viral on social media, but no action was taken was initiated immediately.

Taking to social media, TDP spokesperson Jyothsna stated that the TDP Govt, under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and Home Minister Anitha, are committed to ensuring justice and safety for all women and girls. She said, "We are actively working against violence and sexual abuse, ensuring perpetrators are held accountable. Our priority is to restore faith and confidence in the system. Together, we can create a safer Andhra Pradesh for everyone, she added.
