Gandhi Jayanti: IIT Bhubaneswar observes Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Indian Institute of Techlogy (IIT) in Bhubaneswar has observed Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on October 2 to mark 150th birth anniversary of Far of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Students, faculty and staff members of IIT Bhubaneswar participated in cleanliness drive outside campus as a part of "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan". Professor RV Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar offered flowers in tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

'Work for prosperity of our country'

Director, in his speech, has spoken about basic foundations of Gandhian philosophy with an emphasis on n-violence and truth. "Gandhiji, a great thinker, a philosopher and Far of our Nation, continues to be embodiment of great leership, simplicity, and satyagraha," Professor Kumar said urging everybody to derive inspiration from this great personality. On this occasion, he asked each one of m to stand up for values of Gandhian philosophy and work towards prosperity of nation. "On this Gandhi Jayanti, which is also Jayanti day of Lal Bahur Shastri, ar great leer and 2nd Prime Minister of India, we pay hom to m and renew our resolve to stand up for values of Gandhian philosophy and work for prosperity of our country," said Professor Kumar.

Director calls upon every IITian to commit towards "Swachhata"

Director also took this opportunity to call upon every IITian to join ble initiative anunced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by committing towards "Swachhata" of nation starting from ir own premises. students of IIT Bhubaneswar also presented a short skit based on me of cleanliness. y also distributed cloth bags in nearby vills — Argul, Kansap, Podapoda, Khudupur, Panpur — and requested m to stop using plastic bags. "Swachhta" pledge was ministered by Registrar of IIT Bhubaneswar.
