Ganesh Chaturthi: Bollywood celebrates the festival,wishes fans

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the day Lord Ganesha was born. Bollywood actors like Shilpa Shetty, Mahesh Babu and Sonu Sood take to twitter to wish fans.

Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha. Touted as the biggest festival celebrated in the state of Maharashtra, Ganesh Chaturthi usually lasts for a period of 10 days. Often regarded as a symbol of good luck, households all over India make way for the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi with an array of savouries and desserts. The famous sweet Modak is considered an all-time favourite during the festival.

Bollywood wishes fans on Twitter 

Not only regular people but even our celebrities are eager to bring the Bappa home. Bollywood celebrities took to twitter to celebrate this auspicious occasion sending greetings to their family, friends and fans. Some of them even propagated for an eco-friendly celebration. Actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Anushka Sharma, Sonu Sood and Mahesh Babu took to twitter to express their festive mood.

Ganesh Chaturthi, the celebration of Lord Ganesha 

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi falls in the month of August or September every year. The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is usually marked with the installations of idols at homes, public places or grand pandals. Vedic hymns are chanted with people from different communities fasting for long periods of time. After days of celebration with family and friends, the festival ends on day 10 with the idol being immersed in the nearest water body. In Mumbai alone, 150,000 idols are immersed annually.
