Ganesh Chaturthi, festival that celebrates birth of Lord Ganesh is upon us, with celebrations beginning on Monday, especially in Maharashtra where it is hard to miss. During Ganesh Chaturthi, idols of Lord Ganesha can be seen dotting streets in pandals of various size, and also in homes, where people invite friends and family over to celebrate toger. This year, in spirit of having an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav, actor Riteish Deshmukh has shared an appeal with Ganesh visarjan in mind. actor has made a mud idol of Ganesha and is extolling its benefits over Plaster-of-Paris idols which are often coated with paint and have potential to endanger water bodies when immersed in m.

It can take a few years for PoP to completely dissolve in water. It is with this in mind that Riteish Deshmukh, who is kwn for his do it yourself (DIY) videos on Twitter, posted a video of him making an ‘eco-friendly’ idol at home from scratch.

This is t first time that Riteish Deshmukh has promoted 'Go Green' and 'eco-friendly' concept. It was during last year's celebrations too that Deshmukh had made an 'eco-friendly' Ganesha idol. 10-day annual celebrations is celebrated with a lot of passion across western and sourn India. This year's Ganesh Chaturthi began on 2nd of September with Visarjan taking place on 12th of September.

Many have taken to immersing Ganpati idols at home, as re is question of conflict with any tradition. idea of immersion is to ensure that what has come from earth returns to earth. This can be ensured that water you use for immersion is free from any waste and clean. Once idol has dissolved this water can be offered to plants in your own garden.
