Ganesh Visarjan: Over 38k Ganpati idols immersed at 129 locations

As Ganpati festivities came to an end on Anant Chaturdashi on Thursday, over 38,000 idols were immersed at 129 designated spots in Mumbai. As per sources, immersions of several big idols including startling attraction Lalbaugcha Raja, continued till Friday morning. Lalbaugcha Raja was immersed in sea off Girgaun Chowpatty past 9 pm on Thursday.
immersions were held in every part of city, from Shivaji Park in central part of city to Juhu on western coast, and Aksa, Versova and Marve coasts in rrn part of metropolis.

'By 9 am on Friday, 627 'sarvajanik' (public) Ganesha idols were immersed while figure for small household idols stood at 30,403, taking total number of immersions over last 24 hours to over 38,000.'
Reportedly, for security apparatus, teams for civic body's disaster manment team, fire brige, police, and or ncies were present. Chief Fire Officer P S Rahangdale said fire brige h deployed over 300 lifeguards to ensure immersions passed off without any untoward incident.
In neighbouring Thane, a total of 6.190 idols were immersed. According to figures released by Thane Municipal Corporation, it included 5,574 public Ganpati idols and 482 community ones.

Medical centres and watch towers h also been set up. Special centres for missing children were also in place along with drone cameras to monitor situation. Various wings of police, including State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), Riot Control, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squ, and Quick Response Teams were deployed in city.
