Some of the big names from Indian cricket, administrative heavyweights and family members of disqualified persons' feature in the draft electoral roll for BCCI elections to be held on October 23. Republic TV has accessed a copy of the BCCI's Draft Electoral Roll, which has many big names. Leading from the front is former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who will be representing the Cricket Association of Bengal, Mohammad Azharuddin (Hyderabad Cricket Association), former Karnataka Ranji captain Brijesh Patel (Karnataka State Cricket Association) and IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla (Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association). Apart from them, other heavyweights include Jay Shah (Gujarat Cricket Association), Sanjay Madhukar Naik (Mumbai Cricket Association), Vaibhav Gehlot (Rajasthan Cricket Association), Devjit Saikia (Assam Cricket Association) Rajat Sharma (Delhi & District Cricket Association) and Arun Dhumal (Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association).

The Draft Electoral Roll

Interestingly, most of the state associations, barring Tamil Nadu which has decided to send its secretary N Rangaswami and Karnataka which has Brijesh Patel representing, have decided to nominate their Presidents as representatives.

The copy reads: “The following Draft Electoral Roll lists the name of all the representatives received from the full members of the BCCI through communications sent by them. The names have been listed after checking only the completeness of the records as specified in paragraph 3 of the electoral Officer's Notice of Election Schedule and call for Full members to file applications to nominate their respective representative dated 26 September 2019. The electoral officer will undertake scrutiny only of the applications received from those who have been determined to be compliant by the Supreme Court appointee Committee of Administrators for the BCCI, in accordance with the Hon'ble Supreme Court judgment dated 9 August 2018 read with Supreme Court order dated 20 September 2019. Objections on the entries in the Draft Electoral Roll may be submitted via email to electoral.officer@bcci.tv before 3 pm on Monday, 7 October 2019. The final Electoral Roll shall be compiled by the Electoral Officer after taking into consideration objections made and information received if any.”
