Vijayapura (Karnataka): The key men accused in the journalist Gauri Lankesh murder case received a rousing welcome from some Hindutva activists upon their arrival in their hometown.
Parashuram Waghmore and Manohar Yadave were released along with six others on bail on October 9 by a trial court and subsequently released from jail on October 11. They had spent over six years behind bars.
Upon their arrival, Hindutva activists gathered on Saturday night and escorted them to a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, where they were welcomed with saffron shawls and garlands amid shouts of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Sanatana Dharma Ki Jai."
