Gehlot seeks PM's help to check locust attack in Rajasthan

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help to tackle the locust attack in several districts of Rajasthan.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help to tackle locust attack in several districts of Rajasthan.

" dam caused to crops can be minimised only if serious efforts are initiated for control of grasshoppers in Pakistan and or neighbouring countries," he stated in a letter to PM.

Requesting coordination with neighbouring countries, including Pakistan, CM said Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jalore, Churu, Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh districts in Rajasthan were under heavy attack of locusts.

Locusts started coming to Rajasthan in great numbers in May this year.

Generally, number and effect of se insects declines by October but this time ir attack continued in December.

Gehlot mentioned that he h written to Union agriculture minister on September 18 in this regard.
