Case Filed Against Bhana Sidhu’s Kin for Allegedly Attacking Police Officials During Protest

The Punjab police have registered a case against the family members of Bhana Sidhu for allegedly attacking the officials during a protest in Punjab’s Barnala.

Chandigarh: Punjab police have registered a case against family members of Bhana Sidhu for allegedly attacking police officials during a protest in Punjab’s Barnala. accused have been identified as Bhana Sidhu's far Bikar Singh, his bror Amna Singh, his sisters – Kiranpal Kaur and Sukhpal Kaur, Lakha Sidhana, Sarabjit Singh Sarpanch, Ranjit Singh and several or unidentified persons.

On 3 February, supporters and family members of Bhana Sidhu h staged a protest, demanding his release. During demonstration, protesters reportedly got into a scuffle with cops present at location, following which y blocked national highway and attacked cops while also causing damage to public property. According to reports, as police tried to clear highway, protesters attacked officials with sharp-edged weapons, reby causing m severe injuries. A case has been registered against 17 accused in matter.

police have registered case under Sections 307, 148, 283, 186,353, 279, 427, 149, 117, 268 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), and have also slapped Section 8b of National Highway Act 1956, and Section 4 of Punjab Prevention of Damage to Public and Private Property Act 2014.
