CISF foils drug smuggling attempt at IGI Airport: Seizes medicines worth Rs 80 lakh
Alert CISF sleuths at Terminal-3 of IGI Airport thwarted a drug consignment and nabbed two international passengers trying to smuggle medicine worth Rs 80 lakh

New Delhi: In a successful operation at Terminal-3 of IGI Airport, CISF surveillance and intelligence staff identified suspicious activities of two international passengers, Md Raihan Fazal and Azeem Khan, bound for Kabul via Dubai.
Based on suspicion and their movements, the duo who were said to be flying by Air India flight No. AI-995 (STD-2020 hrs) were diverted to the random checking point for thorough checking of their four big size trolley bags. During the security check ups, the screening of their four trolley bags through X-BIS machine, CISF personnel noticed suspicious images and upon frisking huge quantity of medicines of approximate value Rs 80 lakh were detected.
When the CISF team interrogated them, the passengers could not produce supporting documents for carrying such huge cache of medicines with out any prescriptions and original receipts.
The matter was informed to senior officers of CISF and custom officials. The team investigating the case said that passengers along with detected medicines were handed over to the authorities for further probe in this regard.
