ED conducts raids at multiple Chennai locations linked to share market investor

Chennai:  The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday conducted raids at several locations in Chennai. The raids happened at locations such as Alwarpet, Kolathur, Besant Nagar etc. The day long raids were conducted at properties including residences and offices belonging to a share market investor called Ganesh.

Ganesh is said to be a returnee from the United States of America and had apparently moved to Chennai a couple of months ago. Ganesh, being a share market investor has been involved in several financial transactions. According to the ED sources, Ganesh has been involved in some illegal money transfers which has led to a money laundering case that was registered by the ED office in Chennai. The searches conducted by the ED officials on Thursday were in connection with this case at properties belonging to Ganesh.

Around six ED officials reached the house of Ganesh at around 8 am in the morning that is in the Venus Colony of Alwarpet. It is also notable that the son of Ganesh is still residing in the United States and is also working in a private firm. Similarly, couple of other searches also took place in Chennai simultaneously that was carried out by the Enforcement Directorate. It is also learnt that a 60-year-old Priya who resides at Kalakshetra Colony in Besant Nagar was also searched by the ED, today. The searches at her residence also began at around the same time when it began at Ganesh’s residence.

Meanwhile, yet another ED raids happened at the residence of one Muthu, which is located at the Siva Parvathy Nagar in Kolathur area around the same time. The details regarding these raids are yet to be confirmed by the Enforcement Directorate but it is speculated that these three raids have been conducted for the same case that has connections with each other.
