Ghol, widely referred as 'Sea Gold' for its medicinal properties, declared state fish of Gujarat

Ahmedab: Gujarat has officially declared Ghol fish as state fish. Ghol fish is commonly kwn as "Sea Gold" due to its significant medicinal properties. People in Asia highly value this fish for its health benefits, as it is rich in nutrients like iodine, omega-3, DHA, EPA, iron, taurine, magnesium, fluoride, and selenium. In Asia, all parts of Ghol fish are used for medicinal purposes, drug production, cosmetics, and even making dissolvable stitches for surgeries.

Chief Minister also pointed out that Gujarat, with largest coastline in country, has a significant number of fishermen and invative stakeholders. Inclusive policies have led to state's development, and delegates at conference are expected to contribute to ongoing growth and development in blue revolution.
Ghol Fish, colloquially referred to as Sea Gold, is t always found near water's surface due to pollution, forcing it into deep sea waters. This makes it challenging for fishermen to catch. Despite its elusive nature, Ghol Fish commands a high price in international and overseas markets.
