Chennai Rains LIVE(Tamil Nu): Rain and thundershowers were witnessed in several areas of Chennai on Sunday morning with Chrompet, GST Ro and Sholinganallur experiencing heavy rainfall. Stey rains were also reported from Thoraipakkam. Meanwhile, Chennai Meteorological Centre forecast moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in seven districts of Tamil Nu. city authorities have cautioned people to stay indoors as much as possible considering wear prediction.

"Moderate rain with light thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Vellore and Tenkasi districts of Tamil Nu," Chennai Met department stated in a release."Light rain with thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Mayiluthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Puducherry and Karaikal districts of Tamil Nu," it ded.

Rains lashed several parts of state capital, Chennai, on Saturday night. places in city that experienced heavy rainfall included Chrompet, GST Ro and Sholinganallur.

Heavy rainfall pounded several parts of city after a well-marked low-pressure area concentrated into a depression over souast, joining Southwest Bay of Bengal on Friday.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a cyclonic storm to cross South Andhra Presh and joining North Tamil Nu coast, between Chennai and Machilipatnam in Andhra Presh, around December 4 evening.

Furr, as per Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai, heavy rainfall continued over various places in Tiruvallur, especially in coastal areas of Palaverku, Ponneri, Gummidipoondi, Periyapalayam, Sholavaram and ors, since Saturday morning.

Amid prevailing wet wear in district, Tiruvallur Collector Prabhushankar visited an NDRF camp and briefed personnel about impending Cyclone Michaung and state's preparedness for it.
