Tractor March: 200 Kisan Unions to Protest on February 13 in Delhi, Warn Govt of Blockades

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha has announced a non-political farmers’ protest in Delhi on February 13.

Chandigarh: Around 200 Kisan (farmer) unions have announced a Tractor March towards national capital in protest against union government on February 13. 

announcement was me by Samyukt Kisan Morcha,  claiming that 2020 show of farmers’ protests will be repeated if government tries to stop farmers by using ir machinery.

Tractor March will start from different parts of country and will reach Jantar Mantar in Delhi. unions claim that thousands of people will participate in march in February.

Demands of Kisan Unions

Kisan unions have raised demands to Centre regarding following points:

  • Guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP)
  • Debt waiver
  • Implementation of Swaminathan Report: National Commission on Farmers
  • Justice to Lakhimpur Kheri farmers. 

While dressing media, Kisan Union leer Jagjit Singh Dalewal said that unions repeatedly wrote to union government regarding demands, but government did not pay any heed to it. Dalewal ded that unions will reach national capital to register protest.

“We have decided to register protest by reaching Jantar Mantar in national capital. A massive number of people will participate from across country. If government tries to put barrices to stop march, those will be tossed, as farmers have decided to reach Delhi only,” said Dalewal.

Anor Kisan leer, Surjit Singh Phool said that preparations are in full swing and that y will carry clos and eatables along, as protest might be dragged for a longer duration. 

Phool ded that 2020 Kisan protests can be repeated in case government tries to put blockes in March. Phool said that all farmers were waiting for response of government after sending several representations.

Kisan leer Sarabjeet Singh Pander said, “We have reduced all political leers from protests. This protest will be public-oriented only. Kisan leers who have contested elections or associated with any political party will not be allowed to participate”.
