TRAGIC: 36-year-old charred to death in sleep in Delhi, kept fireplace burning to combat cold

Delhi: A appalling incident has surfaced in New Mangalapuri, Delhi, where a 36-year-old man, identified as Viney Arora, was found in a burnt condition within his ground-floor room on Anganwari Wali Gali on December 27. Reports suggested that the victim, who worked as a bouncer, allegedly got charred to death in his sleep due to a fire originating from a burning coal brazier. It seemed he allegedly wanted to combat the severe cold gripping the region amid plummeting temperatures.
Arora was found lying on the floor, surrounded by his belongings such as a chair and cloth. Notably, reports claimed that the police have found evidence of a broken door lock which has raised suspicion surrounding the circumstances leading to the death. Both the Delhi fire station authorities along with forensic teams joined the investigation.
“It was found that the door which was latched from inside was broken, and the victim was lying on the floor. the chair and the clothes were also damaged by the fire,” police said.
The Centralised Accident and Trauma Services ambulance was summoned. It declared the victim dead upon preliminary examination. As investigative officers delve into the circumstances surrounding Arora's demise, multiple theories are under scrutiny to ascertain the true cause of his tragic death. Meanwhile, the post-mortem reports are yet be revealed.
