AQI (Air Quality Index) in Ghaziab and or NCR regions reached 'severe' category on Tuesday as pollution mayhem in Delhi-NCR region continues. Air Quality Index (AQI) in Indirapuram reached 441, in 'severe' category in morning.

Air Quality in Delhi 'serious' 

aver air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 331 in Delhi at 10.37 am on Monday, vember 11. Major pollutants were also detected at Lodhi area in Delhi. PM 2.5 at 456 (severe) and PM 10 at 287 (poor) was recorded in Lodhi Ro area according to (SAFAR). Anand Vihar in Delhi also recorded 'serious' category with an AQI of 441 while Rohini area was at an AQI of 440.

Pollution levels dipped last week

India Meteorological Department's official said spike in pollution levels, could be attributed to a significant decline in wind speed from 20 kilometres per hour over last two days to 10 kilometres per hour. A dip in temperature has also led to accumulation of pollutants near ground, he told PTI.  national capital h a sigh of relief last week after pollution level dipped following favourable wind direction. However, officials say situation could deteriorate furr with winter setting in region.  

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier blamed stubble burning in neighbouring states for increased pollution levels in Delhi. He also urged governments of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Presh to take steps to prevent stubble burning in ir states. According to Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC), straw burning has increased this year.

Earlier, Delhi Government shut schools and declared a major health emergency after Air Quality in Delhi worsened and reached a critical st. An odd-even scheme was also anunced by government to control pollution levels. However, following 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, authorities postponed plan for vember 11 and vember 12.
