swearing-in ceremony of first lieutenant goverr of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Union Territory (UT), Girish Chandra Murmu is scheduled to be conducted on Thursday, October 31 at 12.45 pm in Srinagar's Rajbhavan followed by swearing ceremony of Lakh’s lieutenant goverr at 7.30 pm in Leh. Murmu reportedly arrived at Jammu and Kashmir’s capital Srinagar for his swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, October 30, which will mark official reorganization of State of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories namely J&K UT and Lakh after historic decision of abrogation of article 370 by Central Government.

About new lieutenant goverr of J&K UT
Girish Chandra Murmu, new Goverr of J&K UT, is a retired IAS officer from 1985-batch Gujarat-cre who was serving as Expenditure Secretary under Union Ministry of Finance until his term expired in October and is set to commence as Lt Goverr of J&K UT. GC Murmu who is 59, is one of youngest goverrs in country. Murmu is also kwn to be a trusted aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah from time when Modi helmed State of Gujarat. Murmu h served as Principal Secretary to Narendra Modi when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat.

two new Goverrs will be replacing Satya Pal Malik, who served as 13th and last Goverr of state of Jammu and Kashmir. State of Jammu and Kashmir was split into two union territories namely Jammu & Kashmir and Lakh on August 5 this year after Parliament approved Abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A, followed by Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019. two new union territories - J&K and Lakh will officially come into existence on October 31 after swearing-in of two lieutenant goverrs.
