Goa CM Manohar Parrikar's last rites to be performed in Panaji as Nation observes day of mourning, PM Modi and other leaders to attend: Updates

Goa chief minister and former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar passed away on March 17, 2019. The Centre announced national mourning on March 18, following the demise of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. A state funeral will be accorded to the late former Defence Minister.

Goa chief minister and former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar passed away on March 17, 2019.

President of India Ram Nath Kovind announced on Twitter about Parrikar's demise. He tweeted saying:

"Extremely sorry to hear of the passing of Shri Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa, after an illness borne with fortitude and dignity. An epitome of integrity and dedication in public life, his service to the people of Goa and of India will not be forgotten."

The Centre announced national mourning on March 18, following the demise of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. A state funeral will be accorded to the late former Defence Minister.

The National Flag will fly at half-mast in the National Capital and capitals of States and Union Territories.

The Goa government announced that it would observe seven days of state mourning, from March 18, 2019 to March 24, 2019.

The late Goa CM's funeral will be held on Monday, March 18.
