In a major success for India against Khalistan sympathisers who are hellbent to disrupt Punjab, global Internet giant Google has accepted India’s demand to take down a pro-Khalistani mobile application from its Play Store.
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had also written to Google manment urging m to remove secessionist anti-India mobile application from its Play Store platform.

Big win for India
A spokesperson of Chief Minister's office said that this app was t available any more on Google Play Store for mobile users in India. Chief Minister, who had also urged central government to persuade Google in matter, had asked DGP to coordinate with central security ncies to tackle threat resulting from launch of app, created by ‘ICETECH’,.

app had asked general public to register mselves to vote in so-called ‘PUNJAB REFERENDUM 2020 KHALISTAN’. A website was also launched on same lines for same purpose. During analysis of said application and website in DITAC Lab, Punjab, it was found that data of voters registered through App was also linked and stored in webserver of website, created and handled by ‘Sikhs For Justice’ (SFJ), an Association banned by Government of India.

Based on se findings, Cyber Crime Centre of Bureau of Investigation, Punjab, had moved to get App removed from Google Play Store and website blocked for us in India. Subsequently, on vember 8, 2019, a tice under Section 79 (3) B of Information Techlogy Act was sent to Google Legal Cell for immediate removal of Mobile Application from Google Play Store.
After approval from Additional Chief Secretary Home, a request letter was sent to Cyber Law Division, Department of Electronics & Information and Techlogy, Government of India, for blocking Mobile Application from Google Play Store and Website, under Rule 9 (Blocking of Information in case of Emergency) of Blocking Rule (IT Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking Access of information by public) Rules, 2009.

On vember 9, 2019, IGP Crime Nshwar Rao and in-charge State Cyber-cum-DITAC Lab raised issue with Legal Cell of Google India, which was convinced that Google platform was wrongly being used for illegal and anti-national activities by banned association 'Sikhs For Justice'. This was followed by ir decision to remove app from ir Play Store.
