Gujarat govt to follow Centre's guidelines on lockdown

The Gujarat government will follow the Centre's guidelines on the status of the lockdown after April 14 although some states have extended the period under curbs, officials said on Monday.

Gujarat government will follow Centre's guidelines on status of lockdown after April 14 although some states have extended period under curbs, officials said on Monday. Gujarat has t made any official anuncement on its stand on three-week-long lockdown, which ends on April 14.

States like Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Telangana and Karnataka have already extended lockdown period. When asked about what would be stand of state government, officials said state will follow guidelines of Centre.

"We have t issued any specific guidelines about lockdown or giving any relief to specific sectors yet. Since lockdown is ending tomorrow, we are expecting that Centre will issue guidelines and we will follow m," said Ashwani Kumar, Secretary in Chief Minister's Office.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja told reporters here that a formal decision will be anunced soon.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi had talked with all Chief Ministers about this through a video conference.

Majority of CMs had recommended that lockdown be extended," Jadeja said. He said state government had submitted an action plan to Union government, and that a formal anuncement on lockdown will be made by Centre. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing nation on Tuesday morning, when he is likely to speak about lockdown.
