Guru Poornima: PM Modi meets Sri Vishvesha Teertha Swamiji of Udupi's Sri Pejavara Adokshaja Matha

On the occasion of Guru Poornima, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Sri Vishvesha Teertha Swamiji of Udupi's Sri Pejawara Matha on Tuesday.

The PM took to Twitter and said that the meeting with the spiritual guru was a very humbling experience. Here's the Prime Minister's tweet through which he channeled his experience, wherein he also mentioned that the special day was made even more special after he met the Swami Vishvesha:

Sri Vishvesha Teertha Swamiji is the current presiding Swami of the Sri Pejavara Adokshaja Matha in Udupi, Karnataka. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister also extended his wishes on the occasion of Guru Poornima.

Through his tweet Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted his belief that the Gurus have played a crucial role in shaping and moulding the society. 

What is Guru Poornima?

Guru Poornima is a traditional practice in Hinduism which is mainly dedicated to the spiritual gurus and academic masters who count as enlightened masters. The Guru Poornima is hence, not limited to a single profession, but any profession where pupils across different fields are tutored by experienced masters. In addition, the tradition is not just followed by Hindus, but also by Buddhists and Jains. People across the country dedicate this day to their teachers and hence the day is also counted as a tribute to all those masters.
