In a peculiar turn of events, Gurugram Police apprehended an auto rickshaw driver who allegedly fabricated a story about the robbery of his vehicle and mobile phone to avoid repaying a loan. The police recovered the auto rickshaw and mobile phone from the accused, identified as Shiv Pratap, a native of Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh.
Shiv Pratap had lodged a complaint with the police, claiming that his CNG auto rickshaw and mobile phone were stolen by three miscreants. However, during questioning, the police discovered inconsistencies in his story. Upon further investigation, the auto driver confessed that he had concocted the robbery story to escape paying his due loan installment.
"The auto driver revealed that he had taken the auto to Fatehpur Beri in Delhi and parked it there. He also switched off his mobile phone. Both the auto and his mobile phone were recovered from his possession. Action against the auto driver has been taken under Section 217 of the BNS," said a spokesperson from Gurugram Police.
The police have taken appropriate action against Shiv Pratap for filing a false FIR, emphasizing the consequences of misusing legal provisions.
