Gurugram's Dinesh Madan handed Rs 23,000 traffic challan, here's how

Gurugram’s Dinesh Madan has been fined Rs 23,000 for not following the traffic rules in the NCR. He was traveling without a registration certificate & helmet.

Gurugram’s Dinesh Madan has been fined a rar princely sum of Rs 23,000 for t following traffic rules in national capital region (NCR). He was travelling without a registration certificate and helmet when he was charged for violations, which come two days after violation rules under new Motor Vehicles act came into effect. Delhi has so far issued 3,900 challans after  Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill 2019 became active.  amendment was passed during Lok Sabha proceedings in July.

Speaking to reporters later, Madan narrated through events, conceding that he wasn't wearing a helmet and didn't have his registration. He revealed that it was his refusal to hand over his bike's keys that preceded hefty fine.

He went on to say that his bike cost less than amount he had been fined, and pondered how fine could have been lower.

New Amendments and Charges

charges for traffic violations have been increased post amendment of law. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari anunced a lengthy revision list of charges and fines in amendment and levied a few new rules like a charge of Rs 10,000 on t giving way to emergency vehicles. amendment also includes provisions like opening driving schools in all rural and tribal districts of India. licenses will be checked with help of computers and cameras to reduce corruption. validity of transport license has been increased to five years from three years.

new fines range from Rs 10,000 for t having PUC, Rs 5,000 for being without driving license and Rs 10,000 for t having registration certificate. Also, charges for t having an insurance copy is Rs 4,000 and Rs 1,000 for traveling without a helmet.
