Anurag Thakur, the minister of State for Finance, expressed his happiness over the coalition of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) - led by Dushyant Chautala - for the formation of government in Haryana. His comments come at the backdrop of JJP accepting BJP's offer in forming a coalition to run the government together. The 2019 Haryana Assembly election witnessed no party getting enough seats to form a single-majority government in the state.

Haryana and Maharashtra elections
The elections for the Haryana and Maharashtra State Assemblies were conducted last week, and although the BJP was not able to win the number as it had during the previous assembly elections, the party did manage to win the most number of seats in both the states and thus have been able to form the government in both states and have their own Chief Ministers in both states. In the 90 seat Assembly in Haryana, the ruling party won 40 seats, the Indian National Congress (INC) won 31 seats, the JJP won 10 seats and Independent candidates won seven seats. The BJP and JJP, on Friday evening, announced the alliance. As per the alliance, the CM be Manohar Lal Khattar and the Deputy CM will be a JJP candidate. In the 288 seat Maharashtra Assembly, the BJP won 105 seats, it's alliance partner Shiv Sena won 56 seats, the National Congress Party won 54 seats and the INC won 44 seats. The BJP-Shiv Sena will continue with the alliance and form the government, with Devendra Fadnavis most likely to keep his seat as the Chief Minister of the state.
