The Haryana government on Monday withdrew the Organised Crime Control Bill, 2023, after "certain discrepancies" were pointed out by the Centre.

Resolutions were moved in House by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to withdraw this and anor bill.

In March last year, Haryana Control of Organised Crime Bill, 2023, which sought to prevent and control criminal activity by organised syndicates or gangs, was passed by state Assembly. bill h been reintroduced after government me certain changes.
Earlier, government h withdrawn Haryana Control of Organised Crime Bill, 2020, after Centre pointed out "certain discrepancies." At that time, certain provisions of withdrawn bill were found to conflict with provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act.

2019 version of bill h also been withdrawn following observations on certain provisions.
After being passed by assembly, 2023 version of bill was sent to governor, who reserved it for President's assent under Article 201 of Constitution.

Bill was n forwarded to Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
When bill was sent to Union Ministry of Law and Justice, Finance, and Home for comments, y again flagged certain discrepancies.

MHA requested Haryana to consider withdrawing bill and submitting a fresh one after incorporating suggestions of Law ministry's legislative department.
matter was deliberated upon and it was decided that a revised bill would be introduced given observations me by Centre.
