Headless, Naked Woman's Body Found in Kanpur, Police Suspect Rape and Murder

Kanpur: Headless and naked body of a woman was discovered in mysterious circumstances along a national highway in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on wee hours of Wednesday morning, prompting suspicions of rape and murder, as per reports. 

Nearly 24 hours later, police are still working to identify the woman, with no major breakthroughs yet in the case. 

Authorities stated that the body was first spotted at 6:15 AM and three police teams have been assigned to investigate the case. 

 Although there were no CCTV cameras near the scene, footage from a camera located about 3 kilometers away shows a woman walking alone. Police stated that her dressing matches items of clothing and slippers found near the body on the highway. Investigators are reviewing the footage for additional clues.

A forensic team has collected samples of teeth and bones from the site for further analysis. Senior police officials are considering both accidental death and criminal involvement and are also trying to determine whether the victim was a local resident or from outside the area.

Akhilesh Yadav , Lok Sabha MP and leader of the Opposition from Samajwadi Party, has called for swift and severe action in response to the shocking and mysterious case.
