Here's Omar Abdullah's analysis of Rahul Gandhi's reaction to Congress being left out of SP-BSP Gathbandhan in Uttar Pradesh

After being snubbed by Mayawati-led BSP and Akhilesh Yadav-led SP alliance in Uttar Pradesh, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said his party will fight the elections in the state independently with its “full capacity”. Responding to the political development in U.P, former J&K CM and Jammu & Kashmir National Conference(JKNC) leader Omar Abdullah welcomed the decision taken by Rahul Gandhi, to fight alone in the state, against the SP-BSP gathbandhan.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Omar Abdullah wrote Rahul Gandhi's 'measured, mature response to SP-BSP announcement makes a welcome change for ego-driven bluster that drives the politician's responses'.

Addressing a press conference in Dubai on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi said that the 'two parties have taken a decision, it is their choice'. 

“BSP and SP have made a political decision. It’s on us on how to strengthen the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh and we will fight with our full capacity,” he said.

Speaking of 'Mahagathbandhan' the Congress president further claimed that the situation differs with each state, and as far as the SP-BSP alliance in UP is concerned it is not a setback, because 'BJP is set to get no seat there'.

He said, "The situation is different in each and every state--Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Bihar and other states are witnessing effective gathbandhans being formed one after another. So, that won't be a problem. I won't term UP SP-BSP alliance as a setback because even if Mayawati and Akhilesh ally or we three come together, BJP is set to get no seat there."

On Saturday, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati announced their tie-up for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, clarifying that they will contest on 38 seats each in Uttar Pradesh.
