'Highly Objectionable': Hyderabad Court Rebukes Konda Surekha Over Defamatory Remarks Against KTR

A strict directive has been issued by Hyderab City Civil Court on Friday, against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, preventing her from making any more derogatory comments against BRS Working President KTR, in a 100-crore defamation case.

This directive comes after lawsuit filed by KTR, claiming that Surekha's comments were damaging his reputation. comments by minister were termed as ‘highly objectionable’ by court. re have been orders for removal of se comments from across all social media platforms and digital channels. 

YouTube, Facebook and Google have also been asked to delete videos featuring Konda Surekha's comments. Media channels have also been asked to scrub all content from ir platforms.

Controversy That Erupted by Konda Surekha's Statements

Congress Minister Konda Surekha h alleged that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), working president KT Rama Rao, was behind Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s divorce. In a video going viral on internet, Konda Surekha can be heard saying, "KTR is reason why Naga Chaitanya and Samantha broke up in first place. He has habit of exploiting women and even heroines. He has gotten several heroines dicted to drugs. He even tapped ir phones to get personal information. Doesn’t he have a mor, sister, and wife at home? Why doesn’t he respect and value women.”

Soon after her comments went viral, Telugu stars Nagarjuna, Chaitanya and Samantha blasted minister for spreing “baseless” and “ridiculous” rumours. In latest development, it has been reported that KT Rama Rao has sent a legal tice and asked Konda Surekha to apologise publicly. 

Taking to his X, KTR shared copy of documents sent to Surekha and stated that she used former couple’s name with aim of “tarnishing” his im. In tice, Surekha has been asked to withdraw her statements me against KTR and to “tender an unconditional public apology” to KTR for tarnishing his reputation with her “malicious and defamatory acts” within 24 hours.

Who is Konda Surekha?

Konda Surekha has been a kwn figure in Telangana politics for over two deces. Born in Warangal, India, to Thumma Chandramouli and Thumma Rha, she is a 1985 alumna of Kakatiya University, Warangal, as she holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B Com) degree. Konda married to Konda Murali, who is also a kwn politician.

Her political journey began in 1995 when she became a member of Mandal Parish, and by 1999, she was elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA). following year, she joined Congress party. In 2011, she served as Minister for Women's Development, Child Welfare and Disabled and Juvenile Welfare under YS Rajasekhara Reddy's government. After his death, she resigned and contested 2012 by-polls as a candidate for YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). In 2013, she left YSRCP due to differences with leership. In 2014, Surekha, along with her husband, joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Four years later, y left TRS and rejoined Congress party.
