Home Minister Amit Shah is going to address a garing on National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship Amendment Bill at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on October 1. This development has come days after West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met Home Minister in Delhi on September 19 and discussed issue of NRC.
During meeting with Amit Shah on September 19, Mamata Banerjee handed over a letter to him, expressing concerns about 19 lakh individuals who have been excluded from final list of National Registrar of Citizens of India (NRC) in Assam. Addressing media after meeting Home Minister, West Bengal CM had said:

"19 lakh people who have been excluded from NRC in Assam, re are a lot of Hindi speaking and Bengali speaking people along with a lot of Assamese and or genuine cases. All genuine voters who have been excluded from list should get a chance to feel that y are very much Indian."

Earlier in September, speaking at fourth conclave of rth-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in Assam, Home Minister Amit Shah had also reiterated Modi government's aim to expel all illegal immigrants t just from Assam but from entire country. He went to assure people of Assam that illegal migrant will be able to enter Assam or any or state in rast.

"All states, especially Asssam have expressed worry about NRC (National Register of Citizens). A lot of people think many people were left out of NRC. I want to assure that illegal migrant could enter Assam or any or state in rast. Our intention is to expel illegal immigrants from entire country and t just Assam," Amit Shah said.
NRC final list
On August 31, final NRC list for Assam was published which revealed that a total of 3,11,21,004 persons were eligible for inclusion in final list. It, however, left out 19,06,657 persons, including those who did t submit ir claims. NRC aims to segregate Indian citizens living in Assam from those who had illegally entered state from Bangladesh.
