How Congress-AAP Alliance Could Have Saved Them Haryana? Numbers Explain
Though BJP clinched a hat-trick in the Haryana Assembly elections, its vote share percentage remained a few notch above the vote share percentage of Congress.
Chandigarh: Though BJP clinched a hat-trick in the Haryana Assembly elections, its vote share percentage remained a few notch above the vote share percentage secured by the Congress . When the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ), which comfortably crossed the magic figure of 45 in 90 member assembly of the state and is all set to form the new government with 48 seats, secured a vote percentage of 39.94 per cent, the Congress , with only 37 seats, managed to get 39.09 per cent vote share. As the data is almost clear regarding the number of seats and the vote share by the political parties in Haryana , it is being said that the Congress could have managed to pull a good win if it had decided to fight the polls in alliance with the AAP, which managed to secure 1.79 per cent vote share in the state.
People from the political arena are analysing the outcome of the Haryana Assembly elections and said that if the results could have been slightly different or completely different, if the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had formed an alliance for the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024.
Vote Share Doesn't Always Translate To Seats Won: Political Experts
It is noteworthy to mention that the Congress won 37 seats, and the AAP didn't win any seats but secured a 1.79 per cent vote share. If combined, the alliance would have secured a significant number of votes, potentially leading to more seats.
The Congress party's vote share was 39.09 per cent, and the AAP's was 1.79 per cent. A combined vote share would have been 40.88 per cent, which is higher than the BJP 's vote share of 39.94 per cent. This could have potentially led to the alliance winning more seats than the BJP .
In terms of seats, the Congress won 37, and the AAP didn't win any. If the alliance had won seats proportionate to their combined vote share, they could have potentially won more seats than the BJP 's 48.
However, it's important to note that vote share doesn't always translate to seats won, as the distribution of votes and seats can vary greatly.
The alliance could have also brought together different voter bases, with the Congress having a strong presence in certain regions and the AAP attracting urban voters. This could have helped the alliance win seats in areas where one party might not have been as strong.
However, it's important to note that the alliance would have also faced challenges, such as coordinating campaign strategies and managing different party ideologies. Additionally, the AAP's limited presence in Haryana could have made it difficult for the alliance to gain traction.
