In Ayodhya, Ram Lalla to be adorned with special 'Surya Tilak' every Ram Navami, Here's how

Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: The Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya is amost ready and will be opened for devotees after the consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla on January 22. Notably, the temple has been built in such a way that rays of sun will do special ‘Surya Tilak' of pratima, located in the Sanctum Sanctorum (Garv Graha), on every Ram Navami.

At exactly 12:00 PM, on the ocassion of Ram Navami, a ray of sun will travel down the line to the Garv Graha to put tilak on Ram Lalla. The genius architectural work was done by the team of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) and IIT.

Technique behind ‘Surya Tilak’

Several designers from Bengaluru and Hyderabad participated in the process to blueprint the plan, making the special ‘Surya Tilak’ possible for Ram Lalla.

“The rays of sun will be brought through a pipeline, with the help of mirror reflection. It will be reflected towards centre of the Garv Graha and the same will mirror on the forehead of Ram lalla on every Ram Navami for 5 mins,” a construction supervisor told Republic on December 27.

A mirror and lens will be used to reflect and adjust the rays of the sun, he added. The workers have studied the Saurya and Chandra calendar to calculate the position of sun on the Ram Navami.

Temple's durability is unparalleled, estimating no need for repairs for at least 1,000 years, and asserting that even a 6.5 magnitude earthquake won't shake its foundation. Notably, steel and ordinary cement were eschewed in favour of a foundation 12 metres deep.

Key features of Ram Temple:

• Each floor of the temple will be 20 feet high, adorned with nearly 400 pillars and 44 gates.
• Four corners of the passing gate will be dedicated to Sun God, Maa Bhagwati, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Shiva.
• Nearly 70 per cent of the 70-acre complex will be dedicated to green areas.
• The marble used inside the temple are special Makrana marbles, with 35 mm thickness.
• The Ram temple will consist 5 entrances: Singh Dwar, Nritya Mandap, Rand Mandap, Pooja Room.
• The woods used in each of the entrances are Sangod wood, transported from the Karnataka forest areas.
