Reminiscing his student days in America, Mahindra chairperson Anand Mahindra on Sunday, praised the 'Howdy Modi' event where many US politicians had expressed their pride in India's rapid growth. He said that it was great to see that the perception of India in the US has finally changed since 1973. He added that in 1973, the perception of India was still mired in the stereotype of snake charmers. PM Modi and President Trump had addressed the mega 'Howdy Modi' event on Sunday at Houston, Texas.

Indo-US bond at Howdy Modi event  

Earlier on Sunday, kicking off the 'Howdy Modi!' event, US House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer gave the welcome speech at the event, hailing Indian and US democracies. He highlighted the responsibilities India and USA have towards each other and to the citizens. He had spoken in length about the progress India and US had made since their respective times under the British rule. He also highlighted ideals of a people's democracy that the countries are interwoven with by citing the first three words of both Constitutions - ' We the people'.

President Trump says 'The USA loves India'

US President Donald Trump on Sunday lauded PM Modi for his work in his address at the 'Howdy, Modi!' event. Trump celebrated the India-US relationship and said that together the countries will deepen their ties. President Trump also wished PM Narendra Modi for winning the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. He also wished the Prime Minister a belated birthday. On a lighter note he also asked PM Modi if he was invited to India.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in New York to participate in the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly after delivering an electrifying address in Houston to over 50,000 members of the Indian diaspora at a mega community event also addressed by President Donald Trump. PM Modi had arrived at the J F K International Airport after 10 PM (New York time). He delivered an adress at the Climate Action Summit on Monday morning. He has a packed bilateral and multi-lateral agenda over the next five days, including nine key speeches at high-level summits and plurilateral engagements during the UN General Assembly session and on its sidelines.
