Indian flags can also be seen fluttering outside ir homes ahead of PM Modi’s arrival here on September 22 for ‘Howdy, Modi!’, mega diaspora event.
Large number of registrations have already happened
According to a Houston-based n-profit body, a record audience of over 50,000 people have already registered for event to be held at sprawling NRG Stadium, host Texas India Forum (TIF). ‘Howdy’, short for 'How do you do?', is a friendly greeting commonly used in southwestern United States and is a clear representation of how Indian-American population is feeling before mega event.

Apart from huge billboards on major highways, numerous yard signs have appeared in city. Indian flags have also been put outside homes of Indian-Americans across city as y are counting days for historic event in world's largest energy capital. While on a personal level, people have been presenting ir excitement on Twitter.

Moreover, various contests have also been flagged off before event for people to participate in and win ‘cool prizes.’
re is a wave of unity amongst people and everyone is set to make this event memorable for ir future generations, said a community member at SEWA International Gala. According to sources, Indian-American community feels that this event has provided m with an opportunity to showcase unity of diverse Indian-American community and to celebrate ir accomplishments in US.

attendees at event will see a cultural programme at start of event, called 'Woven: Indian-American Story', a 90-minute show, that is a celebration of Indian-Americans and ir contributions to cultural, intellectual, and social landscape of US, as per sources.

'Shared Dreams, Bright Future'
event, titled 'Shared Dreams, Bright Future', will focus on success of Indian-Americans and ir contributions to United States, as well as strength of US-India relationship. At SEWA International's fundraising gala on Sunday, which was attended by over 800 guests, Jugal Malani, chairperson of event, said that event would be a grand success, thanks to tremendous dedication of volunteers and financial contribution of sponsors."

"We look forward to presenting this unique and interesting cultural show at event, which will tell story of our community in a way that's never really been done before. We want all attendees and those watching from home to connect with a programme that shows Indian-American community and understand what drives our community to be part of larger American experience, said Gitesh Desai, spokesperson for event. Houston event will be Modi's third major address to Indian-American community after he became prime minister in 2014 and first after his re-election in May. previous two were at Madison Square Garden in New York in 2014 and Silicon Valley in 2016. Both events were attended by more than 20,000 people.
