Kolkata's world-famous Howrah Bridge witnessed a rar comic incident on Sunday evening after a middle-d, mentally unstable woman climbed on a pillar of bridge claiming that her bel prize was "stolen" in her childhood and was in possession of Amartya Sen and threatened to jump into Ganga should her 'award' is t returned. Police and fire brige officials were he-over-heels in trying to convince woman to climb down.

According to media reports, incident happened at around 6 pm when woman climbed fourth pillar of bridge, screaming that she h lost bel Prize which h been awarded to her when she was a child. She also claimed that it was w in hands of a current bel Prize winner and that her repeated letters to government requesting return of prize h yielded results at all, reports say.

Police response

police and fire brige officials were he-over-heels in trying to convince woman to climb down since re was a chance of an accident. stubborn woman refused to climb down until police promised to find and return her bel Prize to her. After several attempts of sweet talk and convincing, woman yielded and climbed down.

According to reports, woman is a resident of neighbouring rth 24 Parganas district and police have started investigating matter.
