Alappuzha: In a shocking incident, the Kochi police, searching for a missing woman from the Kadavanthra area, recovered human remains from a site in the Kalavoor area of Alappuzha district with the help of local police. The recovered human remains have been sent for forensic examination. However, it has raised the suspicion that the woman, who was missing for around a month from Kochi, was killed and buried in Alappuzha.
According to police sources, the 73-year-old woman, identified as Subhadra, was reported missing on August 4. The Kochi police had launched a probe in search of the woman. A search effort based on the victim's mobile phone location led the law enforcement authorities to Kalavoor.
After a month-long search operation, the police have now recovered the human remains, which are suspected to be of the missing woman.
A search was carried out at a house in Kalavoor based on information that a body might be buried there. Initial findings suggest that a couple residing in the area may be responsible for the murder of Subhadra. Reports indicate that Subhadra had travelled with the couple to various locations. They separated after the couple allegedly stole her ornaments but later reconnected.
It is suspected that Subhadra was invited to their residence, where she was murdered and buried. The couple is currently reported to be absconding, and the investigation is underway.
