'Humara CP kaisa ho, Kiran Bedi jaisa ho' chant at Delhi cops' protest

Delhi Police personnel while protesting against Tis Hazari clashes, raised slogans favouring former IPS officer Kiran Bedi when CP urged them to maintain peace.

Amid tussle between lawyers and police in Delhi over clashes outside Tis Hazari Court on vember 2, hundreds of police personnel std an unprecedented protest outside police headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday. When Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik appealed to m to maintain peace, he was booed by his own force with "Humara CP (Commissioner of Police) kaisa ho, Kiran Bedi jaisa ho" slogans.

Delhi Commissioner said Police must return to ir duty

Addressing protesting police personnel, Patnaik said that police are law-keepers and have to make sure that faith reposed on m by government is t broken. Urging protesters to return to ir duties, he said, " last few days have been a turmoil for Delhi Police. We are adept at handling difficult situations. We have handled situation in a good manner up till w. We will handle it in a proper manner. we must keep in mind that we are keepers of law and we should follow it. this is our test. Govt has a lot of expectations from us. We are law keepers. ANd this is also a moment of wait for us. It's a wait because HC has set up an inquiry commission. We should keep our faith that we will get justice. Whatever incident has happened re will be legal action. And we have fulfilled our duty as per our tradition. I urge you to go back to your duty points. Go back to your duty points and follow discipline."

Bar Council Chief tells lawyers to resume work

Calling protesting lawyers to resume Court work immediately, Bar Council of India Chief Manan Mishra, on Tuesday, has issued a direction to all Bar Associations in capital to recall ir resolution on abstaining from work. Talking to Republic TV on newly issued orders, he stated that lawyers must call off ir protest and must avoid any untoward incident. He added that those police personnel responsible for lathi charge and firing at lawyers will t be spared as well as those lawyers inciting violence will be punished.

What was scuffle about?

lawyers have claimed a scuffle broke with Delhi Police after y were denied parking . Lawyers claimed that Police officers heckled m and open fired. As many as four lawyers were injured. At least 20 police personnel were also injured while 17 vehicles vandalised, according to officials and eyewitnesses. On or hand, Delhi police claimed that violence began on Saturday after on-duty officers objected to a lawyer parking his car in front of a lockup. A police statement said that a large number of lawyers responded angrily to ir request. CCTV foot shows lawyers manhandling police officers.
