Hyderabad: An 18-month-old boy died after being mauled by a pack of stray dogs in Hyderabad’s Jawahar Nagar area.
The incident took place on Tuesday night when the toddler came out of his house. The toddler was dragged to a short distance by a street dog and then a pack of dogs attacked him, inflicting severe injuries, police said.
The toddler was initially rushed to a private hospital and then referred to a state-run hospital where he succumbed to his injuries last night, according to a police official from Jawahar Nagar police station.
Police have registered a case on behalf of complaint given by the boy’s parents.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed condolences to the family of the deceased baby boy. Reddy also ordered officials to take necessary steps to stop such occurrences in the future. A call center is also established to receive problems from residents regarding stray dogs.
The family, originally from Siddipet district, had relocated to Jawahar Nagar two months ago.
