Hyderabad: Edible cups launched for serving a variety of beverages
A Hyderabad-based company Genomelabs Bio Private Limited has launched cups which can be eaten after consuming cold or hot beverages such as soups, yoghurts etc.

A Hyderab-based company Gemelabs Bio Private Limited has launched cups which can be eaten after consuming cold or hot bevers. This has been done with an aim to dress growing demand for environment-friendly products to serve food products and bevers. According to manufacturer, product named ‘Eat Cup’ is suitable for a variety of items such as soups, desserts, yoghurt, etc. It has been claimed that se items can stay crispy without getting soggy for up to 40 minutes.

Suresh Raju, a senior official of company said, “Eat Cup is me from natural grain products and is completely edible, crunchy and delicious to taste. Rich in fibre, it is also a good dietary supplement. You can eat cup after finishing bever.”

'A viable alternative'
This product has been me from natural grains and thus, is completely edible. company’s objective in launching ‘Eat Cup’ is to reduce us of or disposable alternatives, that require cutting of trees and are harmful to human body. As artificial lining or coating is used, taste of contents is t altered. executive director of company, Ashok Kumar opined that this was a step forward to reduce negative ecological impact and massive carbon footprint.
He said, "Eat Cup is me from natural grain products and presents a viable alternative to both plastic and paper cups, and is a step forward in reducing ir negative ecological impact and massive carbon footprint."

Indigeus manufacturing to commence soon
Currently, ‘Eat Cup’ will be imported through European based manufacturing partner of Gemelabs, which deals with nutrition, fitness, wellness and lifestyle products. Raju stated that ir own production would commence at a 9-acre site in Shamirpet within next 9 to 10 months. manufacturing plant would have a capacity of 10 lakh cups per day. permission has been sought from government in this regard.
