"We could see many commuters jumping signals in the city. To curb this, we have installed LED strip lights on the stop line at traffic junctions on a pilot basis,"
The colour-changing lights which are similar to the traffic signal were put up to encourage motorists to halt before pedestrian crossings. The lights are placed exactly before the crossing. However, the initiative also applied to pedestrians, to discourage them from jaywalking, mainly during the night. The strip of lights is visible and make it clear where the vehicles are to stop.
