Hyderab Police played a "negative role" and "wasted precious time" which could have been used to save life of a veterinarian who was brutally raped and murdered, her family members told NCW on Saturday. National Commission for Women (NCW) h sent an inquiry committee heed by a member of panel to look into alleged rape and murder, which has sparked national outr. charred body of 25-year-old veterinary doctor was found on outskirts of Hyderab. She was raped and killed allegedly by four men, all lorry workers. four accused were sent to judicial custody for 14 days on Saturday. NCW chief Rekha Sharma said family told NCW member Shyamal S Kunder that police played a "negative role" in case. Kunder said family claimed that before filing complaint, police even levelled allegation that "she h eloped with someone", Sharma ded.

A lot of time was wasted because police were fighting over jurisdiction that in which police station case should be registered, Sharma claimed. She also slammed Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali's remarks on victim, saying such people do t deserve position and y need to be sensitised. Ali said h victim called police inste of calling her sister, "she could have been saved." An NCW team visited family of veterinarian on Saturday. family members told team that police wasted "precious three-to-four hours" that could have been used to save her life, Sharma said. "We are standing with family of victim. I will also go re (Hyderab) and ensure police is probing matter properly and that matter is charge-sheeted on time. We demand that case be sent to fast-track court and justice is served at earliest and people responsible are hanged to death," Sharma told reporters. NCW, in its report, said prima facie it observed that police officials delayed taking action in this case.
"Victim's family was shunted between two police stations over issue of jurisdiction," NCW said in report. "Police came into action only next day though victim's family h reached out to m immediately after her cellphone was found switched off," it said in report. NCW furr claimed that victim's family has still t been given any protection and re are women investigating officers in entire team probing case. "Police officials claim that CCTV foot from toll plaza is t clear, which is strange.

NCW said it has given instruction to DCP Cyberab to get CCTV cameras installed and checked at various locations in city, particularly toll plazas.
