IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Heavy Rain In Hydrabad | Image: PTI

Hydrabad Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Telangana, warning of heavy rains, thunderstorms, and squalls on September 23, 24 and 25. In Hyderabad, cloudy conditions are expected to persist until September 25, with the possibility of light to moderate rains or thundershowers continuing through Wednesday.

During the current southwest monsoon season, Telangana has experienced significant rainfall, averaging 919 mm, which is 31% above normal. Hyderabad recorded 780.4 mm, a 36% increase, with Nampally seeing even higher levels at 920.6 mm (61% increase). Recently, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district received the most rainfall at 103.3 mm, and Golconda reported 91.3 mm.

According to the data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) as of 12 a.m, Bansilalpet received 76.3 mm rainfall, followed by Gunfoundry (68.5 mm), Nampally (68.3 mm), Uppal (67 mm), Kapra (61 mm), Musheerabad (60.5 mm and 59.5 mm), Goshamahal (59.8 mm), Begumpet (59.8 mm), Malkajgiri (59 mm), and Khairatabad (58 mm).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a generally cloudy sky for the city on Saturday (September 21, 2024). According to the forecast released on Saturday morning, “Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds, are very likely to occur in Hyderabad.”
