IAF Chief warns Pakistan, says 'India prepared for any eventuality'

After his induction, the Chief of Air Staff, RKS Bhadauria held his first press briefing on Friday and said that the IAF was ready for all kinds of eventuality. He addressed the media on the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the Indian Air Force on Friday. Apart from discussing the operational preparedness of the IAF he also spoke about the capabilities of the new inventory of the Air Force. Additionally, IAF Chief also reiterated that the Air Force would promote the ‘Make in India’ initiative by developing indigenous equipment in the country, itself. 

IAF Chief on operational preparedness 

When asked about the preparedness and eventuality of war on PoK, the Chief of Air Staff said, “We are prepared to deal with any eventuality, there is no separate plan for PoK, we have a plan for everything. Depending upon the need, the Indian Air Force will be there to tackle it”. Apart from this, he also said, "The induction of new inventory combat aircraft and lethal precision weapons will provide the IAF with the overwhelming offensive capability to deter and punish the enemy whenever the need arises. To augment the strength of the fighter fleets of IAF several steps have been initiated. The mid-life upgrade program of the Mirage-2000, MiG-29 and the Jaguar fleet is well on the way. The MiG29 is also progressing well.”

‘Better prepared for a situation like Balakot’ 

During his induction last week, he also spoke about being “better prepared” to face any situation like Balakot in the future. Speaking about the Air Force’s capability of carrying out more strikes like Balakot, IAF Chief RKS Bhadauria said, “We were prepared then and many of these weaponry acquisitions were part of our plan. We were able to expedite it and add some more critical aspects to it, wherever there were shortages. We will be better prepared the next time. There is no doubt in that”. When asked about the reports claiming that the Balakot facility being reactivated, he said, “We are aware of the reports, we will take the necessary action as and when required".
