If RSS acts on Bhagwat's message, hatred will end: Digvijaya Singh

Former General Secretary of All India Congress Committee and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday took a jibe at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks on 'lynchings'. Digvijaya Singh said that lynchings and communal hatred in India will end the day RSS chief starts following his own message of harmony. This comes after the RSS chief while addressing the Vijayadashmi function of RSS at Reshimbagh ground in Maharashtra's Nagpur said that, lynching is not a word from Indian ethos and we shouldn't impose such terms on Indians.

Congress veteran Digvijay slams RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

Veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, while speaking to the media in Bhopal, said that, "The day RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat starts following his own message of harmony, all the problems will come to an end. Mob lynchings and hatred will also end." In his address, Mohan Bhagwat had also the urged citizens to create harmony and that everyone should live within the confines of the law. The Congress leader took a jibe at Bhagwat's remark and said that, "the day RSS adopts the principles of love, harmony and the path of Mahatma Gandhi, our complaints will also end that day."

RSS chief criticized over 'lynching' remark

After his address in Nagpur and following his 'lynching' remark, Bhagwat was slammed by several Opposition leaders who jumped in. Asaduddin Owaisi in a tweet disputed Bhagwat and said that the victims of lynching were Indians. He also questioned who had garlanded the convicts and draped them in the Tricolour, referring to BJP's Jayant Sinha. CPIM's Brinda Karat while speaking to Republic TV said that, "He has to look at the figures and do a reality check. Mohan Bhagwat would do better to stop using his flag, his slogans and his RSS Sainiks in encouraging, patronising and sometimes participating in such crimes."
