IIT Bombay develops 'CORONTINE' app to track COVID-19 patients escaping quarantine

The IIT Bombay students along with some experts and alumni members have developed an app to track the moment of COVID-19 patients in quarantine.

As India continues its battle against deadly Coronavirus, a team from India's rewned Indian Institue of Techlogy's Bombay branch along with some professional and experienced alumni members has claimed to have built a mobile app named 'CORONTINE'. app will contribute in tracking potential or suspected asymptomatic carriers (AC) of deadly virus if y step out of  quarantine zone.

" CORONTINE app is installed on mobile of asymptomatic carriers (AC) by an authorized ncy (AA). app sends GPS coordinates of mobiles periodically to a server under supervision of AA. If a user leaves a specified quarantined zone marked by a geo-fence, it will be auto-detected," read official website of platform 'CORONTINE'.

app is designed to help authorities track asymptomatic carriers and prevent virus from spreading furr.

Furr details about CORONTINE app like  admin platform, along with user manual, etc, can be found on app's official website https://corontine.in. Only an authorized person can log in as admin to access full features of CORONTINE platform.

India sees a rise in COVID-19 cases 

According to latest figure available on Sunday, India has so far reported 979 confirmed cases of Coronavirus and 25 people have died so far. 

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi anunced a 21-day lockdown throughout India starting at midnight on Tuesday. He said that 21 days were necessary for breaking transmission cycle of pandemic. 21-day curfew applies to all states, districts, and vills - irrespective of wher y are currently under curfew or t.

"From midnight, across country, re will be countrywide lockdown in India. re will be a complete restriction of leaving out from residence. All districts, vills will be locked down. This is curfew only -a stricter curfew than Janta curfew. We have to bear ecomic consequences because of this. But to save every Indian's life at this time is my and government's responsibility," said PM Modi.
