Guntur: Chaos erupted in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, where the local police were attempting to destroy seized illicit liquor worth Rs 50 lakh. As the police placed the liquor bottles on the ground to complete the destruction process of the illicit liquor, a group of drunkards suddenly jumped in and started looting the bottles. Before the police could control them, they fled the spot with liquor bottles. The incident reportedly took place at a dumping yard on Etukuru Road in Guntur district.

Reports suggested that though the police tried to control the crowd, they were outnumbered, and people managed to carry as many bottles as they could from the scene. Meanwhile, a video capturing the incident is also going viral on social media, wherein people can be seen picking the bottles from the line-up and fleeing the spot.

Upon arrival, the probe agency found the alcoholic dessert being sold openly at the Cafe Ice Cream Parlour in Jubilee Hills.

According to details, the outlet was found to be mixing 60 ml of whiskey into each kilogram of ice cream and selling it at high prices. The accused, identified as Dayakar Reddy and Shobhan, had also advertised their products on social media to attract more customers.

In a separate raid, the excise department seized non-duty-paid liquor worth Rs 3.85 lakhs from the RTC Cross Roads area of Hyderabad on Thursday. Officials said the accused identified as Gopal Agrawal had brought the liquor from Chandigarh in a vehicle before attempting to sell it in Hyderabad for a higher price.
