Odisha: IMD predicts cyclonic circulations to cause heavy rainfall
IMD has predicted that under the influence of cyclonic circulations in neighbouring state Jharkhand, Odisha's North interior districts will bear heavy rainfall

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that under the influence of two cyclonic circulations in neighboring state Jharkhand, Odisha's North interior districts are set to receive heavy rainfall up to three-four days from Saturday. Speaking to ANI, IMD Bhubaneswar scientist Shashikant said, "There are two cyclonic circulations in Jharkhand adjoining northern Odisha. Under its impact, Odisha will receive thunderstorms and spells of rainfall."

Moderate thunderstorm and lightning expected
The warning has been issued until 10:30 pm. The areas that are likely to be hit by rainfall and thunderstorms during the next 24 hours are Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Khurda, Cuttack, Balasore, Bhadrak and Nayagarh. People in these districts have been advised not to venture outside during this period.
“Moderate thunderstorm and lightning with light to moderate rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurhanj, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkanagiri, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi,” a bulletin issued by IMD read.

A similar situation will prevail for the next two-three days. The IMD scientist gave more details about the forecast and said that "The twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are expected to the cloudy sky with one or two spells of rainfall during two to three days."

Western disturbance affecting Western Himalayan region
The Indian Meteorological Department on Saturday mentioned a Western Disturbance is currently affecting the Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains of northwest India. Similar conditions are very likely to continue over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during the next 2-3 days. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorm activity likely over the western Himalayan region during the same period. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with heavy falls accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning are also likely over east and northeast India and peninsular India during the next 4-5 days. Dry weather is likely over parts of northwest India from 07th October.
