IMD predicts heavy rainfall for Odisha, Chhattisgarh, East Rajasthan

The India Met Department predicted heavy rainfall for Chhattisgarh, Odisha, East Rajasthan, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) on August 29 predicted heavy rainfall for states of Chhattisgarh, Odisha and East Rajasthan. According to wear forecast, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gujarat, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe are also expected to receive heavy downpour. Isolated places in Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal are predicted to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. 

Strong winds likely over Arabian Sea 

IMD issued a statement saying strong winds are likely over southwest Arabian Sea off Somalia coast as well as west-central Arabian sea and Odisha coast with a speed of 45-55 kmph. IMD also said that this wear is likely to prevail over rth Andaman Sea and Gulf of Mannar and sourn Tamil Nadu coast and over east-central Bay of Bengal.

“ Strong winds speed reaching 45-55 km, are very likely to prevail over west-central and southwest Arabian Sea, east-central Bay of Bengal and along and off Andaman and Nicobar Islands,”

IMD advised fishermen to try and avoid going in areas predicted to receive heavy rain for next few days.

A similar forecast was released on August 27, when IMD predicted heavy rains in Gujarat regions of Mahisagar, Mehsana, Dahod, Panchmahal, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Kheda, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Banaskantha, Patan, Surat, Saurashtra, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar, Botad and Anand.

Forecast for August 30

According to IMD, isolated regions of East Rajasthan, Odisha, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala and Mahe may witness heavy rainfall on August 30. re might be a thunderstorm along with lightening. Strong winds will continue at Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal as well as Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Isolated places of Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha are likely to witness heavy rainfall.
