IMD predicts torrential rainfall in isolated pockets of Gujarat

The IMD on Tuesday has issued a statement saying that isolated pockets of Gujarat are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming few days

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday has predicted heavy downpour in isolated patches of Gujarat for the next five days. Jayant Sarkar, the Director of IMD shared details of the weather forecast saying, "light to moderate rainfall is most likely in all the districts of Gujarat and isolated places here will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall." The forecast is valid from September 4 till September 8," he added.

IMD has also warned about heavy rainfall in some places over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Saurashtra & Kutch, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, and Kerala on September 6.

Turbulent weather likely to prevail over the Arabian sea

Sarkar, in his statement, also asked fishermen not to venture into the waters on September 6th and 7th stating "Warning for fishermen has been issued for the next five days as very rough sea conditions are likely to prevail over the southwest and the west-central Arabian Sea".

A similar warning had also been issued on September 1 by IMD stating "strong winds with their speeds reaching 45-55 km, are very likely to prevail over West-Central & Southwest Arabian Sea, Central and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal. Tempestuous weather is likely to prevail over the north Andaman Sea."

The fishermen were warned to remain cautious.

Mumbai to gear up for heavy rains, predicts IMD

The auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi marked its beginning with a spell of heavy rainfall in the city of Mumbai and its adjoining areas. Weather experts have forecast heavy rain at isolated parts of the city till September 6. IMD has also stated that the regions of Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Marathwada are set to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming two to three days. It had also predicted that some patches in Goa and Konkan will receive heavy rainfall on Tuesday.
