New Delhi: US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday to discuss the deepening of ties between India and the United States. The meeting took place at Kharge's residence in New Delhi.

Following the meeting, Kharge posted on X, highlighting the strong and comprehensive global strategic partnership between the two countries, driven by shared democratic values. "India and the United States enjoy a comprehensive global strategic partnership covering almost all areas of human endeavour, driven by shared democratic values," Kharge stated.

Kharge also expressed his delight at meeting Ambassador Garcetti, along with Minister-Counselor of Political Affairs Graham Mayer and Chief of Staff Lisa Brown. "Delighted to meet Ambassador of the US to India, HE Mr. Eric Garcetti, Minister-Counselor of Political Affairs, Mr. Graham Mayer, and Chief of Staff, Ms. Lisa Brown, and discussed deepening of ties between the two countries," he added.

Earlier, on August 28, Ambassador Garcetti spoke at the Annual IC3 Conference and Expo 2024 in Delhi, where he emphasized the alignment of values between the American and Indian people. He remarked on the shared outlook towards an open and free Indo-Pacific and the importance of democracy and individual rights.

Garcetti also highlighted the unprecedented power of US-India collaboration, citing a recent example where American scientific breakthroughs in dengue fever vaccines were advanced by Indian companies. "One of whom is now in the third round of clinical trials... India and the world, for the first time because of the US and India working together, [may] have a dengue fever vaccine that will save countless lives," he noted.

The ongoing discussions and collaborations underscore the growing importance of the India-US relationship in addressing global challenges and advancing shared goals.
